Have you heard about "Jay Matalo" aka the person who revealed VPN to Globe Telecoms who eventually blocked all VPNs? Well, he's the current talk of town for all VPN users in some circles. They even made a site dedicated for him. Will he be the victim of the new Cyber Bullying here in the Philippines? Well, apparently he is currently being hunted by many of the VPN users. But the question remains, did Globe really find out about VPN because of Mr. Matalo? Certain experiences say that it doesn't but no one can really point out as to when did Globe block VPNs. If you do not know, VPN or Virtual Private Networks are currently being used by some Filipinos to "trick" cellular servers in order to have an internet connection without paying a cent. How? Well it simply uses a protocol which allows you to become a member on an international virtual LAN bypassing the communication to the Telcos server which enables them to control your connection if ever you ran out of load.

To put it simply, instead of passing through Globe, Smart, or Sun's internet "tollgate," you simply took another path.
Will Smart and Sun follow suit? Well, it is too soon to tell but I am sure that it will be dealt with soon especially that HSPA+ and 4G will be operating in the near future.
But getting back on the topic, I do not think that Mr. Matalo initiated the investigation which led to the blocking of the VPNs. I believe that Globe or any company already knew about this simply because it's not a secret. It can be found by merely doing a search on Google.
Poor kid. Now this guy will have a fan page of his own very soon. Chin up, Jay, atleast you get internet renown. If you were the one who really exposed VPNs, may Globe reward you with something. Otherwise, your infamy will be for naught.
Here is the evidence as to why Mr. Matalo is being bullied:
